Rites & Ceremonies
The SPU Rites mark the symbolic moments of the educational journey: ummer Peace University is not just an academic program, but also a symbolic and civic experience.
Its beginning and conclusion are marked by two ritual moments that represent the spiritual and communal heart of the program.
The Peacemakers’ Oath
During the opening ceremony, each participant makes a personal commitment to responsibility, truth, and dialogue.
The Peacemakers Oath affirms participants’ commitment to the founding principles of the SPU: acting with integrity, listening with empathy, and contributing with courage.
This solemn yet profoundly human moment marks our entry into a global community of research and ethical commitment.
The Belvedere Declaration and the SPU Peace Prize
The SPU concludes with the SPU Peace Prize Award Ceremony and the public presentation of the Belvedere Declaration .
The Declaration brings together the results of the training process, the reflections developed during the Peace Labs and the proposals contained in the SPU 2026 White Paper .
The Peace Prize is awarded annually to a personality, institution, or community that has distinguished itself through its concrete commitment to promoting peace, sustainability, and dialogue between peoples.
The closing ceremony, held in the historic center of Belvedere Marittimo, thus becomes a public event of international significance: a moment of synthesis between academia, citizenship, and diplomacy, renewing the collective commitment to peace.
