The Italian Cultural Routes

Students participating in our Summer Peace University can enjoy 20 hours per week of cultural and educational activities and excursions, organized into thematic areas. The diverse pathways within the master class are as follows:

  • Red Route: Mediterranean Gastronomy and Wine
  • Yellow Route: Arts and Crafts in the Village
  • Blue Route: Visual Art and History
  • Green Route: Exploring and Discovering the Territory
  • Special Route: Village Events

RED ROUTE: Mediterranean Gastronomy and Wine

Experience the richness of traditional Italian cuisine through both theory and practice. Learn culinary terminology, get acquainted with local ingredients, and master the preparation of classic dishes. You will delve into the fundamental principles of the Mediterranean diet while exploring pasta-making, stews, bread, and pizza.

YELLOW ROUTE: Arts and Crafts in the Village

Engage in hands-on workshops where local artisans teach the fundamental techniques of traditional crafts such as ceramics and painting. After each session, students will have the opportunity to take home their handcrafted creations. Immerse yourself in local culture by exploring traditional Southern Italian dances, like the Tarantella. This combination of language and artistic heritage promises a unique and enriching experience.

BLUE ROUTE: Visual Art and History

Participate in visits to historic cultural centers and visual art-themed events, where students will learn about significant historical events, local history, art, customs, and traditions.

GREEN ROUTE: Exploring and Discovering the Territory

Embark on excursions that prioritize nature. Discover a variety of ecosystems while learning to appreciate and protect the environment in areas like Sila and Pollino National Parks, guided by experts in park and environmental conservation. Experience the charm of some of the most beautiful villages in Calabria—timeless treasures where every stone tells an ancient story, and each alleyway leads you deeper into history.

SPECIAL ROUTE: Village Events

Students will fully immerse themselves in local cultural experiences by participating in traditional celebrations and events happening in the area throughout the course.
