Public Forum

The Public Forums represent the Summer Peace University ‘s outreach to society and institutions.
They are the link between academic reflection and public debate, between university research and global citizenship. Each week of the program culminates with an International Forum that brings together students, ambassadors, academics, journalists, and representatives of national and supranational institutions for an open and participatory discussion on the topics addressed in the Peace Labs and academic lectures.
The Public Forum is not a simple conference, but an exercise in cultural democracy : a space for plural dialogue in which the ideas developed during the week are measured against reality and translated into shared proposals, experiences, and visions.
Perspectives from different countries intertwine in a mosaic of interpretations and solutions, restoring university education to its original function as a laboratory of global thought and citizenship.
Each Forum is introduced by an academic session and followed by an interactive debate open to the public and the media.
Moderation is entrusted to journalists, political analysts, or international relations scholars, who guide the discussions, ensuring balance, diversity, and argumentative rigor.
The meetings are streamed live on the institutional channels of SPU and partner universities, thus becoming a privileged vantage point for the global dialogue on peace.

Main Forums of the SPU 2026

Forum I – The Mediterranean and the New Global Balances

Analysis of conflicts and regional cooperation processes, with the participation of diplomats, researchers, and international observers.

Forum II – Global Economy, Climate and Social Justice

An in-depth analysis of the relationship between economic development, ecological transition, and the protection of fundamental rights.

Forum III – Science, Technology and Ethical Governance

Exploring the new frontiers of innovation and the moral dilemmas linked to the digital revolution and artificial intelligence.

Forum IV – Culture, Religions, and Beauty as Languages of Peace

The final meeting will focus on interreligious dialogue, cultural diplomacy, and creativity as tools for reconciliation and harmony between peoples.

The Public Forums thus constitute a window on the world and a laboratory of cultural diplomacy , where academic training intertwines with public responsibility and dialogue becomes a tool for collective peacebuilding. They embody the spirit of the SPU: an education that goes beyond simply imparting knowledge, but also develops global citizens capable of listening, understanding, and acting for the common good.
